Featuring an eight-band analog equalizer with +/-12dB range of adjustment available for eight separate bands in the 25Hz-10KHz range, the U.S.A.-made MQ112 invites you to take full control of the sound you hear at your home. Built to McIntosh tradition with extra-low-noise circuitry, MQ112 is your immediate way to fine-tune specific instruments, vocal types, particular frequencies, and recording ambience. A “TILT" knob with a subtle tonal balance shift of ±6dB allows you to customize your sound further. Boost the bass while reducing treble, or vice versa. Even better, the EQ Control knob's IN and OUT settings let you bypass the entire equalizer circuit so you compare the adjusted sound to the original, unaltered version to ensure you achieve the perfect profile. In addition, the equalizer can be triggered IN or OUT using the rear panel’s EQ Control Trigger, giving you seamless control over when MQ112 engages. 

The back panel of MQ112 attests to its versatility. Equipped with an array of balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, MQ112 is designed to sit between your preamplifier and amplifier. (It also interfaces with integrated amplifiers that have removable jumpers.) The input type you use does not have to match the output type you choose, so, for example, you can  connect a preamplifier (or another audio component with volume control via unbalanced inputs and hook up MQ112 to your power amplifier via the balanced outputs. A second pair of outputs means you can play the same music through a separate stereo system in another room, bi-amp a single pair of speakers, or connect a subwoofer. (For subwoofers without stereo inputs, the second output on MQ112 can be set to mono; two subwoofers can also be connected in this manner.)
