Proven and Effective Budget Tweak Treats Chassis Vibrations: Audio Additives 3M Damping Sheets Create Constrained-Layer Effect, Lower Noise Floor of Almost Any Component
When it comes to damping equipment chassis vibrations, Audio Additives 3M Damping Sheets lend a huge hand. Each sheet consists of a self-adhesive stainless-steel sheet backed by a blue, proprietary 3M damping material. The proprietary manufacturing process allows the 15mils-thick sheet to create a constrained-layer damping effect that instantly reduces chassis vibration, greatly improving sound quality and lowering the noise floor of any component.
Although the sheets have hundreds of uses, including utilization on practically any electronic gear, we recommend that the first place to use one is to adhere it to the inside top panel of a component. In most gear, the top panel is thin sheet metal that resonates sympathetically with any airborne vibration. Damping resonance improves resolution and tonal balance.
Each sheet can be cut to size using scissors, but keep in mind you will be cutting stainless steel. Also, remember to avoid blocking vents or placing the sheets inside any device that runs too hot to touch.
