Hear What Landmark Performance Sounds Like: American-Made BAT Rex 300 Power Amplifier Delivers High-Current 200Wpc Output, Seamlessly Blends Solid-State and Tube Properties

There are figurative beasts of stereo power amplifiers, then there’s the BAT Rex 300. Seventy pounds of pure American muscle and fully differential from input to output, this powerhouse plays with the warmth, resolution, smoothness, naturalism, and textural beauty traditionally associated with tubes while offering the convenience, clarity, control, and precision of solid-state models – the camp in which Rex 300 proudly belongs. But this is no regular off-the-shelf design.

On paper, it outputs a conservatively rated 200Wpc (into eight ohms) of high-current power to drive nearly any pair of speakers to full potential. It transmits audio signals with uncommon purity and speed, allowing you to maximize the investment you made in your system. Practically speaking, the fully balanced Rex 300 handles the most complex passages with kid gloves and resolves the entire frequency spectrum with commanding authority.

Think about the lower bass notes you know are on many of your favorite recordings but which never sound completely realized; the fine details, timbral delicacy, and distinctive tonality that make the greatest vocalists singular; the organic extension and decay of well-tuned instruments such as pianos, acoustic guitars, horns, and strings; the thrilling dynamics, crisp pacing, and explosive attack that energizes rock ‘n’ roll, hip-hop, and electronic fare – all these traits and more become more fully realized and, well, real with Rex 300.

Adhering to BAT tradition, the 6.5 x 19 x 18-inch (HWD) Rex 300 leverages cutting-edge technology, purist approaches, and advanced engineering to deliver landmark-caliber performance. Measured with an incredibly wide bandwidth (3Hz to 200KHz) and high slew rate (200V/uS), it employs the same TWIN-Path split-pole power supply topology used in its monoblock brother, Rex 500, and incorporates the fourth-generation of BAT’s SuperPak (SuperPak Quattro) to offer four levels of filtration.

A simple two-stage signal path; symmetrical N-Channel MOSFETs; high-current driver stage; isolated power supplies for both the driver and output stages; fuseless protection circuit; zero global feedback; and audiophile-quality parts throughout further underline why Rex 300 is a giant of a high-end amplifier. Innovative Power Supply
The gain stages of Rex 300 feature ultra-high current delivery to achieve spectacular transparency and dynamic realism  The amp also employs the same split power supply topology (TWIN-Path) as the Rex 500.  These individual power paths allow the supply to deliver much greater current than traditional designs. The power supply design is further enhanced by BAT’s SuperPak Quattro capacitor bank, which provides four levels of power-supply filtration. In SuperPak Quattro, third-level premium silver foil/oil capacitors are joined by an X-cap to further flesh out music's textural beauty and tonal density.

N-Channel MOSFETs
The Rex 300 circuit is based entirely on N-Channel MOSFET devices. High-power amplifiers traditionally use complementary N- and P-Channel devices in the output stage. Such configurations are easier to build but suffer from an important drawback: P-Channel devices are inherently inferior to their brethren because they are much slower. In Rex 300, both sides of the waveform are handled by identical devices in identical circuit configuration, assuring symmetry of the resulting signal.

Two Gain Stages with Zero Global Feedback
In audio, simpler is better. In Rex 300, the amplifier circuit consists of just two gain blocks, putting it at the zenith of simplicity for modern high-power amplifier design. Rex 300 is also fully balanced from input to output.

Fuseless Protection Circuit
Rex 300 incorporates the same protection circuit used in the Rex 500 to eliminate any need to replace internal fuses.  Many of us have experienced power surges at home and resultant blown fuses. Rex 300 puts an end to this hassle. Just press a rear-panel button and normal operation will resume. The elimination of internal fuses also permits Rex 300 to handle much higher currents without impeding the circuit's operation.

Intelligent Power Upgrade
Rex 300 can be ordered as either a stereo amplifier or as a monoblock. BAT provides an upgrade path that allows the owner of a stereo Rex 300 to easily convert it to a monoblock. You don’t need to trade your amplifier in to obtain more power. Simply convert your existing Rex 300 to a monoblock and order a second Rex 300 monoblock to match. Technically, the stereo to monoblock conversion is accomplished by paralleling the inputs and outputs. This means the performance gets even better since the current delivery gets doubled and becomes more effortless, like the sound of live music.
