A ‘Big Brother’ to SR125x, Grado's Impressive SR225x Headphones Deliver Well-Balanced Sound, Tremendous Clarity, and a Powerful Punch
The SR225x and SR125x have had a sibling rivalry for decades. Being the more advanced of the pair, the SR225x utilizes the new F cushion to open up the sound to more textured tones. The driver works in unison to produce a unique voicing and operates just as fast as the SR125x. (Just don't tell their kid brother.) The SR225x Headphones are a step up in terms of overall sonic performance, but they share many of the esteemed characteristics of the SR125x.
The clarity and range of Grado headphones can reveal new sonic details in songs that music lovers have heard hundreds of times. The driver and housing, working gracefully in tandem, react to vibrations and virtually eliminate transient distortions. With warm harmonic colors, smooth top-end, excellent dynamics, and a world-renowned mid-range, the SR225x produces a sound that's pure Grado.
A key to the performance of the SR225x are the fourth-generation Grado drivers. Specifically tuned for the SR225x, this new speaker design features a more powerful magnetic circuit, a voice coil with decreased effective mass, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Reengineering these components for 44mm drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.
Along with the speakers, the cables and headband have been redesigned for the SR225x. Now housed in a more durable exterior, the 8-conductor cable transfers more information and features a super-annealed copper wire for improved purity of the audio signal. The new headband features expanded cushioning for a more comfortable listening experience.
Each SR225x is hand-assembled in Brooklyn. This headphone goes from workbench to workbench until it is ready for your ears.
And, like all Music Direct products, Grado SR225x Headphones come with the 100% Music Direct Satisfaction Guarantee.
"Overall, I found the sound of the Grado SR225x to be excellent for what it brings to the table. It's engaging and well-balanced in its sonic reproduction. It's remarkable in its mid-range stability and the ability to hold notes with ease without getting scratchy and for its compatibility with a wide range of genres with just its 44mm X Series driver.... [It] packs a punch for what it offers, despite its small size."
