This Moving-Coil Phono Cartridge Behaves Like a Moving-Magnet Model: Danish-Built Ortofon SPU GTX S Features an Integrated Step-Up Transformer, Plays with Natural Musicality and Tonal Richness

Equipped with an integrated step-up transformer designed by Lundahl that allows it to be connected to any phono preamplifier or integrated amplifier as if it was a moving-magnet cartridge, the Ortofon SPU GTX S (and sibling SPU GTX E) moving-coil cartridge plays with a terrific sense of natural musicality, tonal richness, and expressive character. Hand-built in Denmark, SPU GTX S outputs 4mV and weighs 38 grams. Molded in one piece from glass-fiber-reinforced copolymer – never before used for SPU Series models – its unibody housing functions as a stable, rigid container for the precision generating system. 

Featuring a spherical diamond stylus, SPU GTX S also benefits from Ortofon’s exclusive suspension system, quad-coil system, and renowned tracking ability. SPU GTX E has the exact same build and specifications, but gets an enhancement in the form of an elliptical diamond stylus.
