Description

Allergic to Source-Generated Vibrations, Features Monolithic Amplifier and Zero Voltage Float: Whest PS.40RDT Dual-Mono MM/MC Phono Preamplifier Is One Serious Piece of Kit

Reference-class spaciousness, tremendous harmonic resolution, natural musicality, laser-like focus, supreme soundstaging: The Whest PS.40RDT dual-mono MM/MC phono preamplifier does all that and more for vinyl LPs. Leveraging considerable technology and essential parts from the company's flagship Titan Pro model, PS.40RDT comes housed in a chassis manufactured using a precision-controlled computer machining and touting finished seams for ultra-high rigidity. Internally, it has the same suspension system found in Whest's MC REF V Mk4. Suffice it to say this ‘stage is allergic to source- and airborne-generated vibrations.

That's just the beginning of this audiophile marvel. For starters, the input stage employs an ultra-low-noise and hand-matched monolithic amplifier for off-the-charts realism. In addition, its Zero Voltage Float translates into spectacular signal transfer tracking and a high-resolution signal into the discrete output stage. As for the circuit board, only super-low-impurity copper will do. RIAA hybrid active filters boast channel matching to within 0.12dB and RIAA curve accuracy to 0.15dB – figures across a bandwidth that spans from 9Hz and 62KHz. Internal cabling stems from Titan Pro and constitutes pro-audio-grade OFC for requisite stability and phase performance.

Akin to all Whest models, PS.40RDT's gain and load settings are accessible under the chassis. The MM gain arrives at 43dB (not the older 1970s standard 40dB), an option that, with a total capacitance value of 91pf, gives a beautifully flat response from elite MM cartridges. Maximum gain is 72dB and with the internals' ultra-low noise levels, you will never again be stuck for gain. The RCA and XLR outputs also parallel those of the MC REF V Mk4, but PS.40RDT also adds another set of RCA outputs for archiving vinyl to computers. It also means PS.40RDT can be permanently connected to both your computer and main system at all times.

Tested during development with premium Ortofon, Lyra, Audio-Technica, Dynavector, and Van den Hul cartridges, PS.40RDT is serious kit. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed.
