Description

All-Discrete Transistor Class A Circuitry, Mammoth Processing Power, and Ultra-Matching of Components Define Whest Audio PS.40RDT Special Edition MM/MC Phono Preamplifier

Mammoth processing power, reference-setting dampening, and all-discrete transistor Class A circuitry distinguish the West Audio PS.40RDT Special Edition MM/MC phono preamplifier, which also claims ultra-matching of critical components in the audio in DC paths that means each channel behaves exactly the same way. The result: Impeccable stability, etched imaging, and natural musicality from vinyl LPs and super-quiet operation that delivers exceptionally black backgrounds. The presence of high-voltage rails for exceptional dynamic contrasts, pro-grade OFC internal cabling for optimal phase performance, and a Zero Voltage Float for signal transfer tracking further up the capability of this analog marvel.

Benefiting from technology and components gleaned from the company's flagship Titan Pro model, PS.40RDT Special Edition comes housed in a chassis manufactured using a precision-controlled computer machining and touting finished seams for ultra-high rigidity. Internally, it has the same suspension system found in Whest's MC REF V Mk4. The latter also served as the basis for the discrete input stage, here slightly "trimmed" down yet boasting a hand-matched monolithic amplifier. And speaking again of the MC REF V MK4, the RCA and XLR outputs you'll find here parallel those on the more expensive unit, choices that translate into profound realism.

Like all Whest models, PS.40RDT Special Edition's gain and load settings are accessible under the chassis. The MM gain arrives at 43dB (not the older 1970s standard 40dB), an option that, with a total capacitance value of 91pf, gives a beautifully flat response from elite MM cartridges. Maximum gain is 72dB and with the internals' ultra-low noise levels, you will never again be stuck for gain. In addition, PS.40RDT Special Edition has hybrid RIAA filters and channel matching within 0.12dB and RIAA curve accuracy to 0.15dB. Also, want to keep PS.40RDT Special Edition permanently connected to both your computer and main system at all times? You can, thanks to a second set of RCA outputs.

Tested during development with premium Ortofon, Lyra, Audio-Technica, Dynavector, and Van den Hul cartridges, PS.40RDT Special Edition is serious kit. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed.
