Description

Q Series Flagship Blends Innovation and Accessibility: KEF Q11 Meta Floor-Standing Loudspeaker Plays with Alluring Detail, Clarity, Purity, Accuracy, and Dynamics

Whether you’re acquainted with KEF’s innovative engineering or finding out about it for the first time, no speaker better leverages the cost-conscious advantages of the technology initially included in the company's far more expensive models than the Q11 Meta floor-standing loudspeaker. Easy to drive (89dB sensitivity), this Q Series flagship pushes the limits on what you can get — we’re talking purity, dynamics, precision, naturalism, and detail — from a model that even a few years earlier wouldn’t have been possible at this price.

Rightfully incorporated into its name, Q11 Meta has Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) that eliminates 99% of the unwanted noise from the rear of the 12th generation of KEF's renowned Uni-Q driver — which in Q11 Meta bundles a 0.75-inch vented aluminum-dome tweeter with a four-inch aluminum-cone midrange. This revised Uni-Q boasts a redesigned motor system designed with KEF's in-house simulation and analysis tools. Featuring a shaped and undercut pole as well as symmetrical aluminum demodulation rings that combine to reduce the inductance in the lower midrange, the assembly lessens distortion and enhances imaging. In addition, the Uni-Q array boasts a Flexible Decoupling Chassis that further prevents unwanted vibration and leads to extreme clarity.

Measuring 43.8 x 12.5 x 15.0 inches (HWD), Q11 Meta brings the thunder via three 6.5-inch hybrid aluminum cone woofers that go deep, maintain their composure, and deliver serious low-end impact. The brand-new design benefits from stiffness to achieve piston-like movement and fast speed. In tandem with 3D FEA-optimized surround geometry, the woofers remain agile and accurate even when playing challenging material.

Another trickle-down feature, Shadow Flare – a forward-thinking manner of diminishing cabinet diffraction – visually functions as a trim ring while serving double duty as a surface that extends the Uni-Q waveguide effect. In Q11 Meta, the tweeter no longer has line of sight of the cabinet edges, thereby creating a shadow region at the points where the potential for diffraction remains highest, and minimizing the acoustic impact to negligible levels. In short: The Shadow Flare greatly assists the reproduction of subtle cues and nuances in your favorite recordings.

Further borrowing from advanced engineering invested in its top-of-the-line models, KEF designed the 49.6-pound Q11 Meta to maximize energy transmission. This undertaking involved increasing the rear-chamber area by 250% compared to its predecessor, leading to increased linearity and MAT effectiveness. A refined crossover — developed after more than 1,000 measurements were taken in KEF’s anechoic chamber in its UK facility — translates to a refined signal path and the pristine sonics for which the company’s speakers are beloved around the globe.

Equipped with detachable magnetic grilles, Q11 Meta embraces a minimalist design completed with a satin finish to inconspicuously blend in with any decor. Fine-tuned by KEF, it is a seamless match with any other speakers in the Q Series line and invites you to experience music (and more) with fresh ears.
