Description

Bass with Stunning Clarity and Speed: British-Built REL T/9x Subwoofer Delivers Low Frequencies with Power and Precision

The engineers at REL designed a full upgrade in subwoofer technology for the company's Serie T/x, with the T/9x Subwoofer holding sway as the top-of-the-line component. The T/9x can allow your system to deliver more realistic bass tones with stunning clarity, resulting in a transformative, immersive listening experience. The T/9x offers a level of intimacy, clarity, and speed that means there are no longer trade-offs between the sonic balance of smaller models weighed against the power and scale of a model 9.

Whether it is integrated into a listening room or a home-theater environment, the mighty REL T/9x Subwoofer delivers deep soundstages with realistic sonic textures and details. At about 14 inches wide and about 15 inches deep, this 45-pound subwoofer knows how to flex its muscles, yet it maintains the pinpoint precision to deliver bass tones with nuance and startling realism. The T/9x has a power output of 300 watts and a low-frequency extension of -6dB at 27 Hz.

To achieve the goal of higher output with better control required the REL team to embark upon a complete overhaul of the suspension components. Much like the suspension of an automobile, these elements are responsible for the tuning and feel of the subwoofer. Less back pressure inside the cabinet allowed the engineers to tune for a stiffer, better-controlled driver suspension.

The T/9x retains the best aspects of the previous design (REL T/9i), such as the aluminum center cap responsible for stiffening the lightweight, 10-inch cone, while adding almost no mass. The updated combination produces considerably better attack and dynamics with greater transparency.

The powerful, 300-watt MOSFET amplifier used in the T/9x remains an icon, with huge reserves of current, but numerous upgrades have been incorporated. New driver MOSFETS that improve the performance and transparency – as well as new methods for securing the toroidal transformers – add up to superior strength with stellar clarity. Like all Music Direct products, the REL T/9x Subwoofer comes with the 100% Music Direct Satisfaction Guarantee.

"What the new REL Serie T/x subwoofers bring to your system, in addition to more bass output, is a higher level of definition in the lower frequencies, as well as more presence in the entire frequency spectrum. Don't believe me? Listen to them for an hour and have a friend shut them off while remaining at your listening position."
—Jeff Dorgay, TONE Exceptional Value Award

"[The REL T/9x subwoofer's] low-end slam hasn't been generated at the expense of the speed and control of bass transients. This sealed unit retains REL's usual deft touch and musicality..."

Redesigned Series Flagship

The team at REL has established an intense linkage between performance and design. Performance is paramount, so it drives physical design revisions. REL audio engineers, recognizing the need for greater acoustic volume to achieve the goals of greater fluidity and power, turned to the design team, which devised gently rounded corner radii that allow the eye to perceive less visual mass. The resulting aesthetic is both modern and familiar, with no unnecessary adornment.

Total Reliability

REL has retained its signature Class A/B amplifiers used in every generation of Serie T since 2006. Reliability is the key to happy ownership, and with some 200,000 (and counting) of this range leading long happy lives, Serie T/x owners can feel confident in REL's standard-setting reliability.

Setting the Bar Higher

REL's legendary High Level Input connection and fast filters are a significant part of the REL story. Connecting via the speaker outputs of your amplifier without drawing any power from it may seem like magic, but the real magic lies in the way the sound takes on a natural character. Unique tuning and special limiters mean a T/x subwoofer sounds fresher, faster, and more dynamic than its predecessor.
