Built upon a high-stability crystal, NEO PSU's DSP generator divides the accurate signal from the crystal to the exact frequency needed to turn the platter at the given speed. It also produces near-perfect sinusoidal waveforms to drive the motor, ultimately generating a 24V AC balanced signal with amazingly minimal distortion. This handcrafted instrument bows as the first Rega constructed with an ultra-lightweight Tan-Cast 8 polyurethane foam core plinth. Created for the aerospace industry, the material is then sandwiched between a high-pressure laminate renowned for its thin yet rigid structure. A single-piece, machined aluminum subplatter, revised 24v motor hand-tuned to match its personal NEO power supply, and custom-machined high-precision drive fully complete with an enhanced white drive belt also do the heavy lifting.

Rega's outstanding RB330 precision tonearm and signature double brace technology further contribute to the pinpoint extraction of information from LP grooves. Planar 6 also comes with a clear, flywheel-effect float-glass platter, ultra-low-friction central brass hub, aluminum-trimmed Planar-style feet, and a dust cover. Nd7 also shares in common with its sibling models the use of a neodymium magnet -- thought to be the first time the advantageous element has been employed in a line of MM cartridges. Devised over the course of a decade, Nd7 furthers its playback potential with newly devised generator geometry for outstanding channel balance and an optimized pole gap for superb linearity and cross-talk characteristics.

Built with a three-point mounting system, Nd7 boasts miniaturized parallel coils that are wound in-house with 38-micron wire and only 1275 turns. This construction technique allows Nd7 to excel when it comes to the areas of high-frequency response and low-noise operation. To give Nd7 lightweight and rigid characteristics — and ensure it does not add stress on tonearms — Rega devised a zero-tolerance, injection-molded, glass-filled polyphenylene sulfide body (PPS) inspired by the company’s MC models.
