Perennial classic-rock favorite America harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature songs "A Horse With No Name," "I Need You," "Ventura Highway," "Don't Cross The River," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and "Sister Golden Hair." The combination of Gerry Beckley's melodic pop rock and Dewey Bunnell's use of folk-jazz elements, slinky Latin-leaning rhythms and impressionistic lyric imagery contrasted well with Dan Peek's more traditional country-rock leanings and highly personal lyrics. Their material encompassed an ambitious artistic swath; from effects-laden rockers to oddball medleys to soul-bearing ballads, America displayed a flawless blend of disparate genres and styles as wide-open as the great American plains. 1976's Hideaway served as the group's sixth studio effort overall, helmed by longtime Beatles producer George Martin, who also provided piano on the tracks "She's Beside You" and "Hideaway Part II." It peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard album chart and yielded the two hit singles "Today's The Day" and "Amber Cascades." Colored 180g vinyl LP with insert.
