Bjork's 2011 Studio Album Biophilia on 2LP.
At the core of Björk's groundbreaking multi-media project Biophilia are, of course, the eternally restless artist's sonically brilliant and emotionally stirring songs, akin to the magical, otherworldly, atavistic hymns of her acclaimed 2001 release, Vespertine. On Vespertine, Björk rhapsodized about a new romance; here, she attempts nothing less than to retell the story of the creation of the universe in her own compellingly idiosyncratic voice.
Biophilia is an interdisciplinary exploration of the universe and its physical forces - particularly those where music, nature, and technology meet - inspired by these relationships between musical structures and natural phenomena, from the atomic to the cosmic. "What I always wanted to do was to reconnect musicology with nature," Björk told the New York Times. "I always wanted to make bass lines behave like gravity."
