Bob Marley And The Wailers Exodus on 180g LP

Featuring the Original Gold Metallic Jacket with Embossed Lettering!

In correlation with Bob Marley’s 70th birthday year-long celebration (2015) and the release of the expansive Complete Island Recordings vinyl box, the 11 LP's from the set will also be broken out and released individually on 180-gram vinyl beginning in September 2015. Apart from the actual disc labels which will feature more recently reissued artwork, the LP's will faithfully replicate the original album pressings.

The individual issues encompass all nine Bob Marley & The Wailers studio albums recorded for Island Records including some of their most celebrated releases like 1972 label debut Catch A Fire, 1976 US breakthrough Rastaman Vibration and the two live albums Live! (1975) and Babylon By Bus (1978). Also available: Burnin’ (1973), Natty Dread (1974), Exodus (1977), Kaya (1978), Survival (1979), Uprising (1980) and Confrontation (1983).

Exodus would be Marley’s only album primarily recorded outside of Jamaica; its London sessions were the first time the band recorded in the 24-track format. His Exodus resulted in an album that was tough and reflective, angry and romantic, suitable for domestic consumption and for crossover success.

Featuring the international hits “Jamming,” “Waiting In Vain” and “One Love/People Get Ready,” Exodus was named Album of the Century by Time Magazine. “Every song is a classic, from the messages of love to the anthems of revolution,” Time wrote. “But more than that, the album is a political and cultural nexus, drawing inspiration from the Third World and then giving voice to it the world over.”

The irony of Exodus is that in leaving Jamaica, Marley brought reggae home to the rest of the world. Along the way, he popularized the innovative form known as “versions,” which separated out and spotlighted the instrumental rhythm tracks to reggae songs. Due to this process, reggae’s loping, hypnotic rhythms would find its way into rock ‘n’ roll. Exodus will feature the original gold metallic jacket with embossed lettering.
