Can Saw Delight on LP + Download
Out of Print for Over 30 Years!
Can was founded in 1968 by Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit - who formed a group which would utilize and transcend all boundaries of ethnic, electronic experimental and modern classical music. 1977's Saw Delight is the ninth Can studio album.
It features two new band members who were ex-members of Traffic. The musical direction flirts with world music and precedes the mid-1980s world music trend set by artists such as Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel. Saw Delight was made as a binaural recording, a method of recording sound that uses two microphones, arranged with the intent to create a 3-D stereo sound sensation for the listener of actually being in the room with the performers or instruments.
The band’s powerful influence has never diminished, and their indelible mark is apparent in the bands who freely acknowledge their importance - from Portishead, James Murphy, New Order, Factory Floor, Public Image Ltd, Mogwai, Kanye West (who sampled "Sing Swan Song") and Radiohead - as well as across other disciplines such as visual art and literature.
The LP version of Saw Delight has been out of print for over 30 years. Upcoming vinyl reissues for later this year include: Can, Delay, Out of Reach, Rite Time, Unlimited Edition and more.
