1967 Second Studio Effort Reissued On 180g Vinyl LP for the First Time In Decades!
Cat Stevens grew from being a teen idol of the 1960s into one of the most influential singer-songwriters of all time. In addition to his vast musical achievements, his lifelong spiritual quest has added intrigue and depth to a groundbreaking career. New Masters came out late in 1967 as a swift follow up to Stevens' debut Matthew & Son. However, the album failed to match the success of its predecessor. There were some artistic differences between Cat, who was starting to yearn for a simple acoustic sound, and producer Mike Hurst, who favored more lavish orchestral arrangements. Despite the album's modest commercial performance it did contain "The First Cut is the Deepest" which would go on to be a hit for a number of artists including P.P. Arnold, Rod Stewart, Sheryl Crow, and Keith Hampshire. Here on 180g vinyl LP for the first time in decades!
