Charli XCX Crash on LP
English pop powerhouse Charli XCX returned in 2022 with her fifth and most successful album to date, Crash which came introduced by the dance-pop singles "Good Ones," "New Shapes" featuring Christine and the Queens & Caroline Polachek, "Beg for You" featuring Rina Sawayama" and "Baby." Self-dubbed her "major label sell-out" record, it drew inspiration from pop music of the '80s and '90s and artists like Janet Jackson while its themes were inspired by David Cronenberg's 1996 film of the same name. "I was able to possess and persuade an incredible group of producers and collaborators to contribute to 'Crash' by using my femme fatale powers and a multitude of dark spells and curses," Charli shared. "Some of these include A. G. Cook, George Daniel, Deaton Chris Anthony, Lotus IV, Caroline Polachek, Christine and the Queens, Oscar Holter, Digital Farm Animals, Rina Sawayama, Ian Kirkpatrik, Jason Evigan, Justin Raisen, Ariel Rechtshaid, Ilya, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jon Shave and Mike Wise." Crash debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and at No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard 200, both firsts for the artist.
