Christopher Cross made history with his 1980 self-titled debut, winning five Grammy Awards, including – for the first time ever – the four most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single "Sailing"), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also for "Sailing"), and Best New Artist. Emerging, to the pleasant surprise of the music-loving world, on the heels of the disco and punk eras, this collection of perfectly-crafted and impeccably-performed songs redefined the concept of melodic pop.

Featuring the production and keyboards of Michael Omartian, as well as Christopher's original Texas band of Rob Meurer (keyboards), Andy Salmon (bass), and Tommy Taylor (drums), and a stellar host of guests, including Michael McDonald, Don Henley, J.D. Souther, Larry Carlton, Nicolette Larson, and guitar wizard Eric Johnson in his first national recording appearance.
