Coleman Hawkins The Hawk Flies High On Vinyl LP
Arguably the first man to introduce the tenor saxophone to the jazz world, Coleman Hawkins, at the venerable age of 51, proved he could still hang with the young mavericks of the burgeoning bebop scene. This session put the Hawk back on the map and solidified his status among the greatest tenor players of all time. This date features Hawkins leading a small ensemble of extremely talented musicians, including trombonist J.J. Johnson, trumpeter Idrees Sulieman, pianist Hank Jones, guitarist Barry Galbraith, bassist Oscar Pettiford and drummer Jo Jones.
