Recorded live in July of 1967 at the legendary Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen, Denmark Take The 'A' Train finds tenor saxophonist extraordinaire Dexter Gordon and his fine quartet (pianist Kenny Drew, bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and drummer Albert "Tootie" Heath) swinging hard and stretching out on three stellar numbers which clock in at eight to fifteen minutes in length. Gordon caresses the melodies, creates solos that are full of swing, wit, and inspiration, and makes every phrase sound personal, fresh and original. There was no mistaking Dexter Gordon for anyone else, and he always gave one the impression that he could play for hours without running out of inventive ideas or personality. The historic recording finally gets its vinyl debut with this 180 gram audiophile-grade Pallas pressing from ORG Music.
