Description

Beatles-Influenced Psych-Pop 1967-1968 Recorded Debut Available for the First Time on Vinyl in its Stereo Mix!

Regimental Sgt. Zippo is the legendary ‘album that never was' for Elton John. Signed to DJM as an artist, he cut twelve Beatles-influenced psych-pop tracks at DJM studios in London's New Oxford Street in late 1967/early 1968, for a debut album, that was never released. The collection was named in a nod to Elton's real name of Reginald, his father's military service, and of course The Beatles. Elton shares, "I am releasing something very special. For the first time ever, you will be able to buy 'Regimental Sgt. Zippo' - the debut album that never was! I recorded it in 1967 and 1968 but it was never released in full until now!" As part of the excavation of material for Elton's Jewel Box collection, the original running order was located. After the success of its limited release in mono, the stereo mix is now available here on 180g vinyl LP with a printed inner bag with lyrics.
