Newly Mastered from the Original Half-Inch Analog Tapes
After a series of beloved electronic synth-pop albums the Eurythmics' changed gears on their earthy fifth full-length effort, Revenge (1986) and offered up more rock textures and stripped down, melody-based material. On the apparent change Annie Lennox said, "Well, I don't know what synthpop music is. I only know what Eurythmics sound like. Eurythmics are eclectic. They never fall into categories like that." Propelled by the moving singles "When Tomorrow Comes," "Thorn in My Side," "The Miracle of Love" and "Missionary Man," Revenge broke into the Top 5 in the U.K. and was certified gold in the U.S.
One of the most revered and respected pop groups of their era, Eurythmics, with over 20 international hits and 80 million albums sold, is in the spotlight once again, both for their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination and the re-release of their eight studio albums on vinyl. The eight Eurythmics studio albums being released on vinyl in 2018 will all feature the original artwork, illustrations, and liner notes. As for the new vinyl releases, Dave Stewart assures, "They will sound better. In the archives, we have the original half-inch masters, which have a fantastic sound. That's what we're going from, not the digital remasters where the sound has been compressed."
