"Definitions," wrote Los Angeles Times critic Don Heckman, "become virtually useless to describe the singing of Eva Cassidy." The career of the gifted and acclaimed vocalist has likewise defied description and easy analysis. Her eclectic tastes – everything from folk and country to jazz, standards, blues, rock and pop - made Eva hard to pigeon-hole, and her lack of exposure beyond her native Washington, D.C. kept her profile low during her lifetime. However, she left behind a small, but prodigious canon of recordings that has been meticulously curated and compiled by Blix Street Records. The label's 2017 release Acoustic collects 20 of Cassidy's most beloved acoustic tracks. Led by her signature rendition of Cyndi Lauper's classic "Time After Time," the 180g vinyl 2LP-set also includes moving acoustic interpretations of "Wade in the Water," "Kathy's Song," "Autumn Leaves," "American Tune" and "Songbird."
