For his third album, Canadian classical pianist Glenn Gould presented 1957 performances of Beethoven's Concerto No. 2 in B flat Major for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 19 and Bach's Concerto No. 1 in D Minor for Piano and Orchestra, with Leonard Bernstein conducting the Columbia Symphony Orchestra. His recording of the D-minor Concerto remains to this day gorgeous in its simplicity and, as always with Gould, remarkable in its technical finish. His performance of the Concerto No. 2 was also a riotous success with Bernstein proclaiming: "He is the greatest thing that happened to music in years."
