GZA Beneath The Surface on 2LP
Respect The Classics Campaign Reissue!
According to legend, when the Wu-Tang Clan formed like Voltron on their debut album in 1993, GZA happened to be the head, an appropriate place for a man also called 'The Genius.' And if his subsequent Wu Tang work wasn't enough to back up that legend, then look no further than his two first two solo albums outside of that camp, 1995's Liquid Swords and 1999's Beneath The Surface. Largely helmed by Mathematics and Arabian Priest, the innovative and arresting Beneath The Surface turns the Wu-Tang blueprint on its head with a crisper production which frames GZA's lyrical dexterity to perfection no better than on the quintessential standouts "Amplified Sample" and "Crash Your Crew." Continuing with its Respect The Classics campaign, UMe will be reissuing Beneath The Surface back on the format for which its best suited...vinyl.
