Howard Shore's Anthology: The Paris Concerts on 2LP. This New Anthology Reflects the Diversity of Shore's Work.
Discover the multifaceted musical universe of award-winning Canadian composer Howard Shore. His soundtracks have accompanied over 100 films and have won countless awards, including three Oscars, three Golden Globes and four Grammys. Shore has also composed for opera, ballet and concert halls.
Deutsche Grammophon's new anthology reflects the diversity of Shore's work. The music was recorded by the yellow label in 2023 as part of Radio France's "Week-End Howard Shore", a rousing sound experience of a wide variety of styles and decades with highlights from his well-known soundtracks, including The Fly, Naked Lunch, Ed Wood, Crash, Eastern Promises and of course The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, but also the delicately playful Catania for solo piano. The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under the direction of Ludwig Wicki and Bastien Stil plays the orchestral works, Le Balcon under Mike Schäperclaus plays the chamber music.
“In my opinion, film music is one of the rare territories where a composer can write freely, providing that he chooses the films and subjects that suit his personality." This is the ideology that Howard Shore, one of the most innovative film composers, has embraced for more than 40 years.
