1974 was an awesome year for Jefferson Airplane founding members Grace Slick, Paul Kantner and Marty Balin, as they took a new flight into the galaxy as Jefferson Starship and soon found themselves in a major hit touring & recording act. They remain one of the longest-lasting bands from the sixties.

For their first entree, Jefferson Starship delivered the goods with their first of many gold and platinum albums, the Top 10 smash Dragon Fly. Featuring two big hit singles, "Ride the Tiger" and "Caroline," the band now had a new direction, a much larger audience, and radio play that made them both rock and Top 40 favorites for decades.

The core Jefferson Airplane founders were all in force with Grace Slick leading the band with her astounding vocals, Paul Kantner's dynamic guitar and vocals and Marty Balin's stellar vocal presence. Quicksilver's founder, David Freiberg, was front and center on bass and lead vocals, plus Craig Chaquico on lead guitar, Pete Sears on keys, Papa John Creach on violin and former Turtles and CSNY's Johnny Barbata on drums and vocals.

Dragon Fly continues to be the album of choice for millions of their fans worldwide. It hasn't been available on vinyl for decades; therefore, Friday Music and Jefferson Starship are very pleased to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this classic LP and announce the return of their dynamic rock masterwork Dragon Fly.

Produced by Jefferson Starship and mastered impeccably by longtime associate Joe Reagoso (Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Hot Tuna) from the original 1974 Grunt Records tapes, this amazing album will be pressed on spectacular colored vinyl.

In addition to the big hits like "Ride the Tiger" and "Caroline," Dragon Fly also features superlative rock radio classics like "Hyperdrive," "Be Young You" and "All Fly Away."

To further enhance your Jefferson Starship experience, this edition masterwork will also feature two bonus tracks not featured on the original LP: "Ride the Tiger," the original hit single 45 mix, and a super rare quad-only extended version of "Come to Life."

Friday Music will also be presenting this fine album in the original LP cover art designed by the legendary Peter Lloyd.

Jefferson Starship's Dragon Fly will be one of the more important rock album revisits this year. The top-charting album, completed now with stellar bonus tracks, colored vinyl and the unsurpassed talent of one of rock's greatest bands, will truly be a rewarding experience for all.
