Jethro Tull Living In The Past on 180g 2LP
Jethro Tull released their first blues-oriented album, This Was, in the latter part of 1968 before moving on to more home-grown and eclectic efforts like Stand Up (1969), Benefit (1970), Aqualung (1971) and Thick As A Brick (1972). Issued in late 1972 to capitalize on the success of the band's breakthrough effort Thick As A Brick, Living In The Past lovingly compiles various singles, EP and album songs plus a pair of live tracks, essential material largely only known in the UK at the time. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts on its way to Gold certification while the title cut became Jethro Tull's first Top-40 hit in the US, topping out at No. 11.
