John Mellencamp The Lonesome Jubilee on 180g LP
Cut from the Original Analog Master Tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering
John Mellencamp's career in music, spanning more than 35 years, has seen him transition from pop star to one of the most highly regarded songwriters of a generation and The Voice of The Heartland. Five Mellencamp albums will be reissued on 180g vinyl in June 2016 by Mercury/UMe. New lacquers for American Fool, Uh-Huh, Scarecrow, The Lonesome Jubilee, and Big Daddy were cut from their original analog master tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, with the LPs manufactured by Record Industry. The albums will be available individually and gathered in a 5LP box set, The Vinyl Collection 1982-1989.
The follow-up to 1985's acclaimed Scarecrow where John Mellencamp truly came into his own in terms of his songwriting and the definitive version of his blue-collar sound, 1987's The Lonesome Jubilee finds the singer/songwriter expanding on that musical and lyrical vision with the addition of more country and folk influences including fiddles and accordions. Delving even deeper into themes of America's working class right down to the album's cover art, Lonesome Jubilee features some of the best songwriting of Mellencamp's storied career while also churning out the commercially viable hit singles "Paper In Fire" and "Check It Out" in the process.
