2022 Remaster of For the Roses: 1972 Joni Mitchell Classic on 180g Vinyl LP
After making four acclaimed albums with Reprise Records, including her 1971 masterpiece Blue, Joni Mitchell left the label to join the brand-new Asylum Records in 1972. Over the next seven years, Mitchell would record some of the most acclaimed music of her career while changing her musical direction by adding more jazz elements into her songwriting. Issued in between Blue and Court and Spark, 1972's gold-certified For the Roses finds Joni at the top of her game.
These dozen originals are perceptive, poetic and frequently personal; there's likely a touch of Joni's romantic travails in "Woman Of Heart And Mind," and her experiences in the music industry surface in the title track and "You Turn Me On, I'm A Radio," the singer-songwriter's first Top 40 hit. The Asylum album is just as adventurous musically, with several arrangements reflecting Mitchell's growing interest in jazz and stellar instrumental support from the likes of Graham Nash, Tom Scott and guitarist James Burton. Selected by the Library of Congress for its National Recording Registry, For the Roses is reissued here on 180g vinyl LP with 2022 remastered audio.
