A mesmerizing meditation on the mysterious nature of identity, 1997's Lost Highway is the sixth feature film from auteur David Lynch, creator of such modern masterworks as The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Radical, even for a Lynch film, Lost Highway is not only about the human psyche, it actually seems to take place inside it. Dubbed by Lynch as, "a 21st-century noir horror film," Lost Highway draws its plot, or rather, its plots, from classic film noirs filled with desperate men and faithless women, expensive cars and cheap motels. The film was scored by long time Lynch collaborator Angelo Badalamenti, with additional compositions by Barry Adamson. The haunting soundtrack additionally features new songs by Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson, as well as music by David Bowie, Trent Reznor, Lou Reed, This Mortal Coil, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Rammstein.
