In 1992, Dean Wareham followed the posthumous buzz of Galaxie 500 by forming a new band: Luna. Initially joined by Justin Harwood (of the Chills) and Stanley Demeski (of the Feelies), the group went on to sign to Warner Bros. sub-label Elektra, tour with the Velvet Underground, collaborate with Tom Verlaine and Sterling Morrison and ultimately release seven stunning albums over the course of the 1990's and 2000's. Deemed "the best band you've never heard of" by Rolling Stone, Luna remained under the radar for most of their career despite gathering a rabid cult following. Romantica is Luna's sixth studio album, originally released in 2002 and reissued here on vinyl with an accompanying download featuring bonus tracks. Wareham on the album to Noisey: "I like this album...Having a woman in the band certainly changes the dynamic. I think it also energized me and made me excited about Luna again. It was fun to be in Luna at that point...Prior to making this, I was getting involved with Britta. We were falling in love. A lot of that record is very personal..."
