In the Groove was a quintessential '60s Motown and Marvin Gaye classic that originally yielded the impassioned hits, "You" and "Chained," but became immensely popular when the next-to-last track on Side One, the immortal "I Heard It Through The Grapevine," began getting airplay. This led to "Grapevine" becoming a massive No. 1 smash and Gaye's commercial breakthrough, the biggest hit single ever for Motown at the time (so much so that the label even reissued the album under the song's title which is represented here). The 1968 LP is rounded out by excellent covers of "Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever" and "There Goes My Baby."
