Miles Davis' Tutu Reissued as Part of the Rhino High Fidelity Series on 180g LP. (AAA) Cut From the Original Stereo Master Tapes by Kevin Gray. Pressed at Optimal. Features An Exclusive Insert With Notes by Ashley Kahn.
In 1985, Miles Davis shocked the music world by moving from Columbia to Warner Bros. Records. He immediately started working on an album called Perfect Way after a tune by Scritti Politti, later renamed Tutu by producer Tommy Lipuma. When Tutu (a tribute to Desmond Tutu) was released in 1986, it re-ignited Davis' career, crossing over into the rock and pop markets and winning the Prince of Darkness two Grammy Awards. The album was a key factor in raising Davis' status to an international superstar.
Rhino is synonymous with high-quality reissues, setting the standard with award-winning audio releases for the past 45 years. Now we're raising the bar with a new premium vinyl series, Rhino High Fidelity. These high-end vinyl reissues of classic albums represent the pinnacle of sound and packaging.
To ensure consistent sonic excellence, Kevin Gray will cut lacquers for all Rhino Hi-Fi releases, and Optimal will press the 180-gram vinyl records. The releases boast high-quality glossy covers and “tip-on” jackets, an old-school aesthetic that evokes the golden age of vinyl.
