Description

Century Media is proud to present one of the true crown jewels of the Motorhead discography, the album that ushered the band into the 90's, their ninth studio album, 1916! The last album to feature the manic drumming of one Philthy Animal Taylor, 1916 took all of the hallmarks of the band's "We are Motorhead, we bring you rock and roll" attitude and injected a healthy dose of Sunset Strip sleaze, courtesy of Lemmy's recent move to Los Angeles at the time. Kicking off with the one-two punch of "The One To Sing The Blues" into "I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care)", it's arguably the best two track transition on any Motorhead album.

The album also contains fan favorites such as "No Voices in the Sky" "Going to Brazil" and "Shut You Down". It also trades trademark Motorbanger fury for a healthy dose of experimentation with the elegiacal World War 1 inspired title track along with "Love Me Forever" and "Nightmare/The Dreamtime" which feature heavy use of keyboards, softer vocals, slower tempos, and even *gasp* a cello! And of course, there's "R.A.M.O.N.E.S.", probably the only song in the Motorhead catalogue that's a direct tribute to another band. The track is a frenzied romp from the gutters of New York City out to the beaches of Queens, as Lemmy croaks about his good friends Johnny, Joey, DeeDee, and Tommy.

Finally back on vinyl, 1916 is an essential record for any Motorhead fan and a must-have slice of rock and roll that no good Motörhead collection can do without.
