Potent, Previously Unreleased Bootleg Gem: 15 Tracks of Neil Young Solo, Acoustic, and Transcendent in 1971
During Neil Young's long and storied career, some of his solo shows have attained mythic status, thanks to the practice of bootlegging. The last stop on the singer/songwriter's solo tour of Canada and the United States was an acoustic show performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion – part of the Los Angeles Music Center. This previously unreleased 15-song set was recorded on February 1, 1971, and features Harvest numbers "Old Man," "Heart of Gold," "A Man Needs a Maid," and "The Needle and the Damage Done," along with the evergreen classic "Sugar Mountain."
The album cover art has an aged, bootleg vibe, with a stage banter quote across the top: "I'm happy that y'all came down." This LP is a passport back in time.
