The numbers are staggering: worldwide sales of more than 60 million albums and all seven of their studio albums reached No. 1 in the U.K., where eight singles have also hit No. 1. However, the numbers do not tell the whole story of Oasis, the British band centered on the brothers Gallagher, singer Liam and lead guitarist Noel. By bringing together pop, psychedelia, anthemic rock and a singer-songwriter sensibility, Oasis became one of the most important bands of the modern era. A collection of non album B-sides recorded between 1994-1997, 1998's The Masterplan reached No. 2 U.K. and went on to sell two million copies while standout "Acquiesce" was a Top 30 Modern Rock hit in the U.S.
