Description

Made on an Analogic 16-Bit ADC with Three-Bit Sync Pattern and Even Parity to Form 20-Bit Word: 180g 2LP Reissue of Carmina Burana Cut on Stan Ricker's Equipment, Pressed at Optimal in Germany

Craft Recordings honors the legacy of Telarc Records by re-releasing four of its most famous titles in their long and storied catalog on vinyl LP for the first time in over thirty-five years. These Telarc LPs were made on an Analogic MP8016 16-bit Analog to Digital convertor with a three-bit sync pattern and an even-parity bit added to form a 20-bit word. Cut by Eric Boulanger on Stan Ricker's original equipment, purchased from Ricker's estate after his passing. Pressed by Optimal in Germany to ensure audiophile quality. Hear these famous performances with intense dynamics intact.

Given Robert Shaw's deep understanding not only of orchestral conducting but also of the use of a chorus, it's not surprising that Telarc would have him lead what has become one of the most widely performed works for chorus and orchestra in the twentieth century, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. All songs are sung in either medieval Latin or German, and these 25 poems can be bombastic, sorrowful, gut wrenching, or dramatic – all qualities Shaw easily draws from the orchestra and chorus. Over 75,000 copies of this title have been sold since its release in 1981.
