Description

Paul McCartney & Wings' Venus and Mars Reissued for Its 50th Anniversary Edition on 180g LP. Cut at Half-Speed Using a High Resolution Transfer of the Original Master Tapes From 1975 by Miles Showell at the Legendary Abbey Road Studios.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Venus and Mars, this special 180g vinyl edition is cut at half-speed using a high resolution transfer of the original master tapes from 1975 by Miles Showell at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. This meticulous reproduction of the original UK pressing includes recreations of the original “Venus and Mars are alright tonight” circular sticker and “comparative sizes of sun and planets” bookmark sticker, as well as two posters with photography by Aubrey Powell and Sylvia de Swaan.

Paul McCartney & Wings was one of the most successful acts the U.K. has ever produced, achieving no less than 12 Top 10 hits in the U.K. and another 14 in the U.S. to boot. Following 1973 smash Band on the Run the mid-70s were certainly a commercial heyday for the group. Venus and Mars, Wings' spirited fourth studio album together, was released in May of 1975 ahead of the legendary 'Wings Over The World' tour. Venus and Mars was the first of two albums to feature what many (Paul included) regard as the perfect Wings line-up, with the McCartneys and Denny Laine now joined by guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Joe English. Preceded by the U.S. No. 1 single "Listen To What The Man Said," Venus and Mars shot to the No. 1 spot on both sides of the Atlantic and went on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide to date.
