2018 Remastered Version
Pet Shop Boys (Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe) are the most successful duo in U.K. music history. Since signing to Parlophone Records in 1985, they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles in the U.K. including 22 Top 10 hits and four No. 1's. They've released 13 studio albums to date, all of which have made the U.K. Top 10 as well as album charts around the world. Co-produced with Julian Mendelsohn, Stephen Hague, Shep Pettibone, and Andy Richards, the duo reached new critical and commercial heights with their second album Actually. The 1987 effort spawned several UK Top 10 singles including "It's a Sin" (No. 1), "Rent," "Always On My Mind And Heart" and "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" (No. 2), the latter featuring the-one-and-only Dusty Springfield. As Tennant put it: "I felt at this time that we had the secret of contemporary pop music, that we knew what was required."
