As a debut album, you certainly can't complain about the effectiveness of the Top 10, platinum certified Please ("It's so people can go into the record shop and say can I have the Pet Shop Boys album, please?" said the duo) in putting Pet Shop Boys on the map: all four of the album's Stephen Hague-produced singles – "West End Girls," "Love Comes Quickly," "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)," and "Suburbia" – making their way into the top 20 of the UK charts. "West End Girls" also served as the group's first No. 1 single in the U.S. Remastered on heavyweight vinyl as part of the third set of albums in the Pet Shop Boys definitive Catalogue: 1985-2012 series.
