R.L. Burnside Mr. Wizard on LP + Download
From his classic hill country blues (1994's Too Bad Jim), to his album (1996's A Ass Pocket of Whiskey) and tour with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, R.L. Burnside went from Mississippi Delta juke joint blues legend to indie-rock hero and became a catalyst for making the blues relevant to a new generation along the way. On 1997's Mr. Wizard, which Spencer also happens to appear on two tracks, Burnside offers up another solid helping of the distinct electric blues that he and Fat Possum built his reinvention on once again driven by his powerhouse vocals and barebones guitar work.
