Scriabin / Tchaikovsky's Poem of Ecstasy / Romeo & Juliet: Claudio Abbado Reissued as Part of the Original Source Series on 180g LP. Pure Analogue Mix & Cut from the Original Four-Track Tapes at Emil Berliner Studios. Pressed at Optimal.
Scriabin's "Poème de l'extase" today represents everything he produced as a composer. The over-dimension of his compositions almost overwhelms the listener. The writer Boris Pasternak confessed: "I could not listen to this music without crying." Tchaikovsky describes much more earthly joys and pains in his fantasy overture "Romeo and Juliet." Balakirev had drawn the composer's attention to Shakespeare's tragedy. Out of gratitude, Tchaikovsky dedicated the score to him.
The audiophile vinyl series The Original Source presents outstanding recordings from the 1970s in a completely new sound quality. The renowned Emil Berliner Studios have remastered and edited the original four- and eight-track tapes in 100% analog quality (AAA) using technologies specially developed for the production of the series. The sound differences to the original releases are considerable: greater clarity, more subtleties and improvements in the frequency response, as well as less background noise, distortion and compression enable an audiophile listening experience like never before.
