Steve Earle Copperhead Road on 180g LP
Hard Rocking 1988 Classic Cut from the Original Masters & Pressed on 180g Vinyl!
A protégé of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Steve Earle quickly became a master storyteller in his own right, with his songs being recorded by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, The Pretenders, Joan Baez and countless others. 1986 saw the release of his breakout debut, Guitar Town, which shot to No. 1 on the country charts and immediately established the term "New Country."
What followed was an extremely exciting and varied array of releases including the biting hard rock of his third album Copperhead Road in 1988. Drawing comparisons to the Stones and Guns N' Roses, Copperhead Road as Rolling Stone magazine hailed, "was the most powerful example of the rock-influenced spectrum of the New Traditionalist movement."
From the anti-authoritarian title track which was Earle’s first rock radio hit, to the gunfighter epic ("The Devil's Right Hand"), to the Pogue's backed war narrative ("Johnny Come Lately"), through to the love ballad dominated second half of the album, Earle's songwriting is timeless, compelling and in top form from top to bottom on the excellent Copperhead Road!
