The Monkees Greatest Hits on LP
Initially written off as the 'Prefab Four' due to their made-for-TV origins, the Monkees quickly proved themselves to be deft executors of first-class pop gems, many of which are on a par with the best of their hardest and most ambitious psychedelic and garage contemporaries. The Monkees amassed a dozen Top 40 hits throughout their trailblazing career, including a trio of timeless tunes that soared to No. 1. Between September 1966 and December 1967 "Last Train To Clarksville," "I'm A Believer," and "Daydream Believer" collectively occupied the top position for 12 weeks. Those three classics anchor this 1976 Greatest Hits compilation which also includes "Pleasant Valley Sunday," "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone," and "The Monkees Theme" among others.
