More Hits by The Supremes, their sixth album released in 1965 by Motown, includes two #1 hits, “Stop! In the Name of Love,” and “Back in My Arms Again,” as well as the Top 20 single, “Nothing But Heartaches."
The Supremes were an American female singing group and the premier act of Motown Records during the 1960s. Formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1959 as The Primettes, the group was composed of Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Betty McGlown. They became The Supremes in 1961.
The Supremes achieved mainstream success with twelve number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including hits like "Where Did Our Love Go," "Baby Love," "Come See About Me," and "Stop! In the Name of Love." Their polished performances, glamorous image, and Ross's distinctive voice helped the group become a significant influence on the music and culture of the 1960s.
In 1970, Diana Ross left the group to pursue a solo career, and the group continued with various line-ups until disbanding in 1977. The Supremes' legacy endures, and they are remembered as one of the most successful and influential female vocal groups in the history of music.
