Iconic Texas singer-songwriter Willie Nelson has earned a permanent position in pop music's pantheon with songs that combine the sophistication of Tin Pan Alley with the rough-and-tumble grit and emotional honesty of country music. He brought pop and country together in the early-60s with unforgettable songs like "Crazy," "Hello Walls," "Funny How Time Slips Away," "Night Life" and others and, by the mid-70s, had become a superstar in his own right as a prime mover of a revolutionary and thriving outlaw country music scene. The Red Headed Stranger, Willie's first album for Columbia Records in 1975, catapulted the artist to the front ranks of popularity, making his a name familiar in households across America and around-the-world.

Nelson built on that legacy and his crossover appeal in 1982 with the No. 1 smash album, Always On My Mind. Produced by Chips Moman, the release is anchored by the platinum title cut which garnered three Grammy Awards in 1983 for Song of the Year, Best Country Song, and Best Male Country Vocal Performance, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008. The 10-track set also finds Willie taking on Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" with Waylon Jennings, the Aretha Franklin made famous "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man," and Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge over Troubled Water" before closing things out with the well placed original "The Party's Over."
