Elevate Your Audio Experiences: MoFi Electronics SourcePoint 8 Bookshelf Loudspeakers Play with Class-Leading Sound, Money-Saving Bundle Includes Custom Stands
Renowned audio engineer Andrew Jones created the Mobile Fidelity Electronics SourcePoint 8 bookshelf loudspeakers to give anyone who wants the benefits of his signature two-way concentric driver design — reference-grade soundstaging, three-dimensional imaging, visceral punchiness, emotional expressiveness, hear-through clarity — the opportunity to have it in a unit that easily fits in most spaces. Sharing most of the same DNA as its bigger brother, SourcePoint 10, the 18 x 11.4 x 13.2-inch (HWD) SourcePoint 8 wraps class-leading sound, robust build quality, and elegant looks into a package that doesn't present the dimensional or aesthetic challenges of larger models. This bundle includes a pair of steel stands custom-designed for SourcePoint 8 and saves you $150 compared to buying both products separately.
As he did with SourcePoint 10, Jones devised SourcePoint 8 to appeal to music lovers of every stripe — and to play every kind of music with an aptitude off-limits to many speakers. Whether you prefer relaxing or aggressive fare, acoustic or electric material, or listen to a broad scope of eras and artists depending on your mood, SourcePoint 8 plays it all without prejudice. This is a speaker that conveys recordings in ways that will touch your heart and stir your soul.
Designed and tested in Jones' private studio, and configured around a custom-tooled eight-inch concentric driver and 1.25-inch soft-dome tweeter centered within the woofer cone, SourcePoint 8 retains nearly all of the technology, character, and structure of SourcePoint 10. As part of the speaker's point-source system, the cone acts as a waveguide for the tweeter to both match directivities and maximize the tweeter efficiency. It plays with exceptional control, tonal balance, and spot-on imaging. Working in synchronicity with the tweeter, the eight-inch paper-cone concentric driver keeps displacement to a minimum and helps deliver accurate midrange, taut low-end responsiveness, and powerful dynamics. Not to be overlooked: a brand-new corrugated surround that allows for improved linear excursion and minimizes diffraction corruption of the tweeter wave expansion.
Speaking of the tweeter: The "Twin Drive" magnet system for the tweeter and woofer are designed around high-energy neodymium magnets that, when combined, produce a linear low-distortion drive force, along with copper sleeves to reduce nonlinear inductance. Also inside: A two-way crossover with laminated-steel core inductors that provides smooth on- and off-axis responsiveness; Jones' crossover frequency and slopes seamlessly blend the woofer to the tweeter to further minimize the audibility of out-of-band anomalies.
Able to mate with a wide array of amplification sources and boasting a 47Hz-30kHz frequency range, SourcePoint 8 makes enjoying addictive high-end audio more pleasurable by removing barriers and hassles associated with the experience. No matter where it's placed, SourcePoint 8 can be dialed-in with ease to deliver maximum performance in any environment. Available without stands or with dedicated stands custom-designed to optimize the speakers' placement and stability, it can be displayed with or without supplied removable grilles.
At 80% the size of SourcePoint 10, the gorgeous cabinet on SourcePoint 8 features 3/4-inch-thick real-wood veneer panels, extensive internal bracing, and a sculpted 1.5-inch-thick front baffle. They help underline several defining themes of the 27.9-pound speaker: extremely low distortion, consistent linearity, and deep bass output that help convey music in a manner that blends the detail, specificity, and cleanliness of a traditional bookshelf model with the meatiness, liveliness, and range of a tower. Also doing heavy lifting: Two large rear-firing vents that permit high bass output with low turbulence. And, the sculpted swept-back facets of the front baffle reduce diffraction response errors typically encountered in conventional flat-baffle speakers.
With SourcePoint 8, Jones again carries on the company's mission to create first-rate components that honor Mobile Fidelity's studio heritage and help form a complete source-to-output chain wedded to the prized concepts of signal purity, faithfulness, and precision.
“Taking Andrew Jones’ devotion to coaxial driver design to a new level, the SourcePoint 8 packs a surprising punch for a modest box that’s suited to both small and medium-sized rooms. Pair these stylish, technically innovative speaks with a capable amp, and you’ll be served with a listen that captivated with its immediacy.”

“[The] SourcePoint 8s are balanced, wide-range speakers, enjoyable at all practical volume levels. They generate a fairly wide and deep soundstage that is notably transparent and detailed. They are engaging and non-fatiguing, and they encourage long, enjoyable listening sessions.”
—Kalman Rubinson, Stereophile
“A speaker that conveys the nuances of music whatever the genre. It does intricacy and refinement before switching to full-throated roar and back again, all in an instant. Orchestral works are handled with aplomb but the SourcePoint 8 is equally at home playing Led Zeppelin, Infected Mushroom and the like – even at high volumes. It’s amazing how much intricacy exists within a wall of sound.”
