Description

U.S.A.-Built Mobile Fidelity StudioDeck Turntable Is Made to Deliver What the Artist Captured in the Studio: Listen to Your Vinyl LPs Without Artificial Coloration

Accuracy has been a Mobile Fidelity hallmark since its inception and is exactly what guides the StudioDeck turntable, painstakingly developed to deliver precisely just what the artist captured in the record studio. Nothing more. Nothing less. Hand-crafted at an in-house factory in the U.S.A., designed in collaboration between Mobile Fidelity engineers and turntable expert/Spiral Groove founder Allen Perkins, and made to accurately present the vast sonic pictures present on vinyl LPs (particularly Original Master Recordings), StudioDeck permanently changes the expectations of high-end performance previously attainable at its price point.

Available without a cartridge or with a pre-mounted MoFi StudioTracker, UltraTracker, or MasterTracker cartridge for stellar plug-and-play convenience (select from our drop-down menu above), the ultra-sturdy 20-pound 'table comes loaded with advanced technology, user-friendly features, and unflappable design elements to ensure phenomenal analog playback – ultimately bringing the sound of the Mobile Fidelity Sebastopol, California studio into your home. With StudioDeck, faithful-to-the-source detail, immersive soundstaging, organic warmth, and clarity become part of each listening experience.

Getting the results StudioDeck delivers didn't come easily. Every single piece on StudioDeck derives from tireless experimentation, meticulous evaluation, and listening tests. All parts and materials are chosen and developed strictly on the basis of their sonic benefits. Mobile Fidelity's meticulous oversight of every detail begins with a 3/4-inch platter comprised of Delrin, a high-strength, low-friction polymer selected because its highly crystalline structure makes for a great impedance match with vinyl and grounds unwanted noise. Similarly, and acting in concert with cutting-edge dampening matter, the Delrin pulley – which comes with positions for 33 1/3 and 45RPM speeds – keeps motor vibrations away from the platter and stylus. Speaking of the motor: StudioDeck's 300RPM isolated AC synchronous type delivers excellent speed stability for stellar pitch accuracy and rhythmic drive.

The sound-first fundamentals extend to the custom-developed Studio tonearm, a 10-inch straight aluminum gimbaled bearing design whose rigidity and tracking prowess translate into accurate information retrieval. Its adjustable tracking force, VTA, azimuth, and enhanced anti-skate grant you profound options for tweaks and adjustments. And there's more. A steel and Teflon inverted bearing system provides StudioDeck smooth, quiet playback stability while the anti-vibration feet – co-developed with the engineering team at Harmonic Resolution Systems, the world leader in vibration isolation – further shield StudioDeck from disruptive resonances.

Everything about StudioDeck, down to its use of ester-based bearing grease for quiet operation, relates to preserving and playing back the actual sound on your LPs. It's why Mobile Fidelity equips StudioDeck with high-quality gold-plated connectors shielded by a copper foil box to prevent airborne RF noise and, as a bonus, includes a removable, hinged dust cover to guard against debris when the 'table isn't in use.

True to its name, StudioDeck brings the studio aesthetic into your home. Hear what you've been missing – and what you never thought you could hear at this price – with a risk-free audition of StudioDeck today.

"Listening to records with the StudioDeck in charge over the course of weeks and weeks, it became very apparent that the MoFi's real strength lies in its combination of detail retrieval and musical body. Add in its very solid feel, super-simple setup, and no-nonsense design, and we have a turntable + cartridge package that I can confidently recommend to anyone..."
—Michael Lavorgna, Darko.Audio

"From nowhere to easing past the greats is no mean achievement but the StudioDeck+ package really is that good, displaying an open, lucid style that's thoroughly addictive and an almost magical ability to make music come alive in a way only the best can."
Hi-Fi Choice, five-star review and Group Test Award

"I was not prepared for such an instant dose of sheer delight. You all know the sensation when caught unawares by a product that defies its price category with magical sounds, and the StudioDeck is one of them. For nervous newcomers in sore need of a user-friendly, painless introduction to proper vinyl playback, this is a no-brainer."
—Ken Kessler, Hi-Fi News

"Vinyl is the most tactile of all music formats, so if the turntable feels awkward or cheap, playing music won't be much fun. Even before I listened to an LP, the MoFi StudioDeck turntable scored high on feel and design, [and] it's a joy to use. Turns out it sounds good, too."
—Steve Guttenberg, CNET

"This turntable is pretty enough to be spotlit for display, while itself spotlighting all the music played on its platter, a tight tracker of the information in the groove, unusually open in its top-end delivery, with bass that is terrific and taut in its support."

From the Mastering Studio to the Factory to Your Home

Prestige doesn't come easy – or cheap. To meet all its specific needs and demands, Mobile Fidelity established a new, dedicated facility in Michigan to build the majority of its products in the USA. While an uncommon and expensive endeavor in today's audio industry, in-house manufacturing is the only way to maintain total quality control and create products that live up to the exacting standards Mobile Fidelity established over the past four decades with music releases. The approach cuts both ways, giving you the security and confidence that the Mobile Fidelity product(s) you own is built to – and built to perform at – the highest specifications.

MoFi: Bringing Master-Tape Quality to Your Listening Experience for Decades

The world’s leading audiophile reissue label, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MoFi) is renowned for its commitment to maintaining uncompromising quality and preserving the artist’s original intent. Since its inception in 1977, MoFi has released the definitive-sounding versions of many of the greatest albums in history. Recognizing the importance of getting every detail right, MoFi sources its Original Master Recording releases from the original master tapes. That hallmark — along with a horizontal Original Master Recording stripe on the front cover and numbered-edition stamp on the back — has helped make MoFi recognized around the globe. MoFi’s singularity extends to its incessant efforts to push the limits of sound reproduction. To achieve its goals, the label established its own mastering studio that allows its engineers to execute the cutting process in-house and ensure that no artifacts are added to the final product: the best-sounding vinyl LPs and SACDs available. Drawing on those decades of engineering and studio experience, we have taken the next logical step: Applying our expertise, talent, and passion to the creation of audio gear. Every Mobile Fidelity product is designed and built to meet the strict standards long synonymous with Mobile Fidelity's music reissues.
